West Sussex June 2021

West Sussex report by Alan Brown

Fishing has probably been the hardest I’ve ever known along here, ifs it’s not the lockdowns it’s the long settled spells with clear water and low water temperatures. With the odd unsettled weather windows, some have found odd fish among the doggies. Fishing has know I’m happy to say is starting to pick up. Shoreham has been the best place to target the rays and this has continued to strengthen in numbers, you can also expect bass and dole to appear over the coming weeks. Worthing pier and surrounding beaches has shown odd ray and conger and should start in June to see hounds turning up in better numbers and size, showing up any where from worthing to Ferring. Littlehampton and bognor beaches have been very slow with last few weeks a few stingers showing up. Pagham should start to show bags of bream, rays and hounds. Selsey has been just as bad with few rays and hounds showing, this should now pick up with the hounds turning up even though they late. Bracklesham Bay be where most anglers head for the tope and big hounds in numbers once they show up. The rivers and harbours starting to show mullet and bass and there is aleays a chance of giltheads showing in the harbours. Has be said any fish is better than what we had to go through last 6 months with poor fishing.¬†Browners
